A Taste of Life in the Showa Era
8mm home movies recorded in the Showa era (1926-1989) show a time of affluence even without goods, a time when families supported each other and the community came together, and life was full of smiles. Now, about half a century after they were recorded, the films are beginning to have value as local historical documents that preserve the life of the region. 8mm-labo is a small laboratory that researches, discovers, restores, and re-edits films that would otherwise be buried, and revives the lifestyle of the Showa era. Through this site, we will pass on the small eyes of the people of the city to the future.

8mm-laboは、8mmフィルムを通して昭和の暮らしを現代に蘇らせる小さな研究所です。埋もれている映像をリサーチ、発掘・修復・デジタル化・再編集し、現代に蘇らせます。8mmフィルムの多くはサイレントで記録されています。そこに懐かしい童謡唱歌などの音楽をオリジナル録音し、広く楽しめる映像作品に仕立てあげます。新たに命を吹き込まれたフィルムは、地域の郷土資料として、高齢者施設や病院の回想法の現場で、そして学校の地域教育の教材など、様々な活用が可能になります。繰り返しご覧いただくことで様々な発見があります。自由にお楽しみください。
8mm-labo is a small laboratory that brings back the life of the Showa era through 8mm film. Many of the 8mm films were recorded in silent mode. Many of the 8mmfilms were recorded in silent mode, and we will record music such as nostalgic nursery rhymes and songs to make them into widely enjoyed films. The newly brought to life films can be used in a variety of ways, including as local materials, in reminiscence programs at senior citizen facilities and hospitals, and as teachingmaterials for community education at schools.
